I'd the same experience myself. Mine was 4 months old, and she has an allergic skin condition (which aggravates in cold conditions - and airports and flights are quite cold). She requires skin moisturizers quite frequently so we traveled with them... I was lucky to be allowed with them.. Since it was a baby item. Anyway - the lady at the security gate was nice, and she advised to carry a prescription the next time. Anyway, I think that they should check and allow baby items. Esp, milk and water. Com'n! It may happen that they want to drink right when its not available! And are we sure that flights will be on time? We can't take that chance. They start crying at the top of their voices and get really agitated. Additionally, they drink milk thats mixed with water to make it lighter to suit their digestive powers. There are too many customisations done to suit their health. Twins are usually born weak because all resources gets divided. Touch-wood! So far they have done pretty well :) So we really need to carry things to ensure their safety and health. You can stuffs (like water, maybe milk) on the airport at Chennai (and Mumbai). Even if they can manage 4 hours without milk, you still can make it. And not to forget, you get water on board.
